Happy New Year Steve, and thanks heaps for your proofs.
 |  |
Maen. A nice easy puzzle even with the slight handicap that the automatic possibility remover did not work.
 |  |
11:36 MAEN Shoulda been a lot faster... beautiful architecture!

Onward with our tour, this time to the orient.
 |  |

This was pretty easy today. If only the rest of my day was this simple!

An ornate gate?

Hi ttt!

This is a response to some of your questions from yesterday.

There is no defined maximum to the ratings using the formula that I use. I suppose there is a theoretical maximum - but, it is very large.... Hopefully, I never encounter a puzzle that challenges the theoretical More...

Happy New Year to you too, Kim!

You are most welcome!

Would love to know specifically where this is. Very nice. Have a great day/night, everyone.

A proof for tough??? sudoku of 01 04 2007:

1) Start at 22 filled - the given puzzle. Unique Possibilities to 25 filled. (UP 25).
2) pair 23 at hi2 forbids ag2,hi1=2 and forbids aefg2,hi1,gh3=3 UP 60
3) Coloring on 1's: As fc on 1's: a8 == a5 -- c4 == e4 forbids e8=1 UP 81
Sets: 4. Max depth 2. Rating: .06

China, Beijing ... Well, how it is in English? Eternal Town?
 |  |
as: I think the words you are looking for are 'Forbidden City'. It looks like it might be, but hard to tell. I thought the wall of the forbidden city were red, not gray.
 |  |
Martha, you are right! Forbidden City!!! and walls there are RED! But I think some 'inner' walls were gray... or ...maybe I remember wrong? It is so many years when I travel to China!
 |  |
Martha, I think you're right.

This was an easy puzzle today, until the end. I was left with 21 open squares of 1s,7s,9s, and 3s...I ended with a near-guess.
 |  |

Good afternoon to all! Where it is I'm not sure, but it's the forth time we've seen this picture.

To Steve,
your proof from yesterday, step 4b.
I have a 4 in cell i2 as well as i6 and i1, which you obviously don't have for the i1=4==i6=4 part. I have looked and looked and can't get rid of that extra 4, can you tell me where I went wrong?
Thanks.
 |  |
9 minutes.
 |  |
Hi Soozn!
In my step 3b, I eliminated 3 from i3.
In my step 3c, I eliminated 3 from i6.
Then i2=3, as that was the only spot left for 3 in row i. That took care of that nasty 4 at i2.
 |  |
I mean, of course, column i....
 |  |
Thanks Steve,
I didn't understand step 3c with the hidden pair fc, so I didn't do that step ;-)). That will teach me to just follow the result even if I can't follow the reasoning LOL.
 |  |
Keyan, I thought it was easy till I ended up with 1s,7s and 9s too, which I couldn't solve without a guess.
 |  |

7.49 fairly easy tough one
cheers
 |  |
to STEVE : thank you very much...!
 |  |
