Amazing! I've never seen a petroglyph that complicated or complete!

I saw Native American pictographs (Petroglyphs) while on vacation recently in Wawa, Ontario area. So interesting and yet a little strange to be seeing something left for their future generations.

Acording to Wikipedia... "Petroglyphs are found world-wide, and are often (but not always) associated with prehistoric peoples.
The word comes from the Greek words petros meaning "stone" and glyphein meaning "to carve" (it was originally coined in French as pétroglyphe)."

1. Note pairs 18 at di7;f8.Locked 2s at df9,h9=3.Unique possibilities to 40.
2. If i3=1,1s are locked at df1.If i3=8,d7=8,d1=1.Hence c1=69.
3. If e7=6,a9=6=f5;bottom middle box is devoid of 6.So e7=3.UPs to 45.
4. If c4=5,i6=5,d6=6,d9=5.If c4=1,h2=1,e2=6,f3=5=a5.Either way,a9=9 and UPs to 81.

A shorter version of step 4:Whether d6 or f5=5,a5 or d9=5,making a9=9.

1) Start at 23, basic techniques to up40.
2) (5)a5=f5-d6=d9 => a9<>5
3) (6)a5=f5-d6=d9 => a9<> 6, UP=81

Very efficient solution, Neil.Regards,Alfred.

Alfred, Thanks. But I can only do about one of about every 2, 3 or 4 without comments from you, Sotir, Steve, Clark, Dave, etc. When I cannot do them (and I never look at other people's solutions first), I then look to see if I can learn anything - and usually do learn something. Best regards, Neil

Hi Neil,
Also we can use Remote Pairs for step 2 and 3:
RP(56):a5=f5-d6=d9,=>a9<>56.UP=81
BTW:In my comment above,I missed (8)a2 from original grid.
Best Regards,Sotir

Thanks Sotir, I spotted them as remote pairs, but didn't know the correct notation. Best regards, Neil
