Cool shades - yes - easy today!
 |  |
hello xx

Fiona & K - I'd be interested to know how you do these tough ones so fast. I tend to get to a point where it takes at least 10min just to figure out the next provable number. e.g. in this one I got another nine numbers and then I am stuck. Can you give me any hints?
 |  |
Jimmy, I'm stuck with you! I'd love some help, such as knowing which rule provides the next clue.
 |  |
jimmy, i'm stuck there too!
 |  |
I'm stuck in the same spot, Jimmy. Got 9 numbers in 10 mins, then stuck. HELP! Proofs aren't helping....
 |  |
Glad to know I'm not the only one. It is likely to be one of the 'no matter a choice in one cell a second one results in the same number', but with 53 cells to choose from I am still lost.
When gb comes on he will be able to let us know which proof he has for a 19->28 style. Without spending More...

...unless of course K. or fiona come back to us?
 |  |
No fair saying its easy - it was slow going for me - but I did have constant interruptions from my daughter back from school. Cool dude dog.
 |  |
Doing it on paper I guessed the 1 and the 9 and I think i've got more than one solution. On paper I have two solutions there may be more.
 |  |
Ignore last remark I copied it out with a number missing. Might be able to do it now; but still guessing and not using logic.
 |  |
What a doddle this one was...
 |  |
Anybody got any proofs (not using Euler or Laplace etc.)I guessed the top left hand block. But still had to guess between 4,5 in bottom left hand block.

14:03 This was really tough. Can logic alone solve one of these. It obviously helps but some of it is simply left to trial and error to work out.Luck is key to a quick time.
 |  |
stuck at 9 numbers also
 |  |
Strangely enough none of the people who have said it is easy have come back to explain how? I excuse Richard since he is obviously just a billy connelly fan.
 |  |
Noticed that too, Jimmy. Especially from the one who claims 0.02 seconds!
 |  |
I was absolutely glacial, but it's done, and that's all that matters, intit? Probably an hour or so, though. Emails, supper, etc included. Couldnae be bothered wi' the timer.
 |  |
GB, ou etes-vous?! Nous avons besoin de vous pour nous expliquer celui-la!

18 min...the only way I know to figure it out is to fill in all the possibilities for each square, then start filling in boxes by starting with the ones that have the least amount of possibilities. I know it's the long way to go, but that's the only way I know. Then I focus one one box of nine, then a row, until it's filled.
 |  |
no need to guess it is all there in front of you
 |  |
It is 1.30am so signing out now.
Will look again tomorrow for answers.
Tina - Have you figured out that if a number appears in only one row or column within a box then you can remove it from other possibilities in that row or column? Other hints are pairs and sometimes hidden pairs? Search More...

I'm with jimmy and sweetie. GB svp pas trop mathématique, simple.
 |  |
Jimmy, thanks for the tips. I just saw today at the top where it said 'proofs' and read through one of them. That helped, now let's see if it helps my times.

22:00 with a couple guesses. Glad to see I was not the only one stuck. How do people get such fast times?
 |  |
Click on Proofs, then in box on right side, click 'A Solver'. This is a 'fill it in, we'll show you each excruciating step'. I did all I could to get 11 numbers added (for a total of 30 filled boxes). This included hidden pairs, swordfish, xwing, etc. Now, according to this program, the next More...

It is right there in front of us it's just that we perhaps are looking inside the box - stretch the eyes a little bit further and enjoy what we are doing - I found this one difficult but I have to finish it so that I get to the really good bit - right here. Have a fantabulous day everyone. God! are we aussies good at cricket or what?
 |  |
AAAAACCCCKKKK! This one was really tough for me. Took 1 hour, 37 min! I kept pausing the timer, however, to make supper, let the dogs out, etc. Anyways, I have a couple of hints, either read on or ignore the rest of my comment. One of the choices for cell d5 leads to a very rapid dead end. More...

25:06 with 2 guesses (1 right)I always put in all the possibilities and start eliminating. I'm sure it's not the most brilliant method but it is a good start for other plodders like me. gb is probably enjoying his le weekend away from a computer - choosing to read Stephen Hawking (or something similar) instead.

tough one, take a long time to do full logic, but still needed to guess once.... took more than 1 hour (stop timing in the middle)...
 |  |
10:54 - Hard one! Had to guess twice!
 |  |
11:00 Happy with that. What the..... more canines, good! From this site it's easy to draw the conclusion that dogs are the most popular pet world wide (sudokuinwise it seems). As a young boy I was once told by my grandfather Schubach that 'a dog is man's best friend because he wags his tail instead More...

Hi everyone,
As some of you noticed, this one is 19->28 type, and checked equivalent to 09/12, 09/26, 09/27, 09/29, 10/2, 10/8. Proof :
Take 05/09/12 grid, turn it 90° clockwise.
Now move rows 123456789 (1=bottom!) on new positions 798456213
Now move columns abcdefghi(a=left!) on More...

Sorry not to be online yesterday, sometimes you also have to work...
But now it's weekend, and I plan to redo the writing of today's proof, as an example of automatic translation of proof between 2 equivalent puzzles. Check the sandbox.
