Just saw Julie and Julia on demand (available now on DVD). I loved it ... all of it, unlike the critics who want the Julie part exorcised. Amy Grant is so much fun to watch, I didn't mind being taken away for a few moments from Streep's brilliant rendering of a fabulous woman. As long as it went back again. And it did. Highly recommend.

That should have been Amy ADAMS, and if I'd known then what I've learned since, Adams was completely miscast as Julie Powell. Powell's second book just came out (like this week), and in it she describes, apparently in gorey detail, a sado-masochistic affair after having, in her first book, More...

Just had to send out kudos to the Aussie lasses: your country does produce more than it's fair share of hot actors per capita. Just realized Simon Baker, who I've recently enjoyed in reruns of two US movies, playing American hunks, is actually yours. You must be very proud. (He also happens to do a great American accent, but, like, who the heck cares about that?)

Hey Terry, personally I favour Guy Pearce and Hugh Jackman. Scrumptious...whoops I mean serious, important actors...

Nothing at all wrong with the Pearce-man or the Jackman. But Baker is no slouch. Of course I mean that in the thespian sense.

Another Aussie hunk/actor Peter O'Brien was in the latest Dr Who episode The Waters of Mars.Watch out! they're everywhere!!!

Mr. O'Brien has not submitted a photo to imdb.com. Could you see what you can do to rectify that (having been appointed head of his fan club by me).

Just saw Simon Baker for the THIRD time -- watching The Devil Wears Prada on the telly. We do love him to play the hunky temptation in this country. Though not sure why he's made to play in American accent. Girls over here find the Aussie accent dreamy.

Nice to hear some other voices on this thread. Howdy, Gail and Rolanda. Hope you'll stick around and throw your 2 cents in periodically (and yes, I know exactly what that's worth: more than mine!).

Gail, I doubt either not!
Rolanda, noice to see you back.
Terry, Peter O'Brien is the one married to Miranda Otto, her of LotR fame and indisputable gorgeousness.
Talking about accents, David Tennant from Dr Who speaks 'bland English' for his role, but when speaking as himself in Dr Who Confidential has the most glorious Scots accent.Hmmmmm.

#2 son and a bunch of his mates are off to see 'Avatar' this morning!!!
17/Dec/09 12:31 PM

How did the boys like Avatar? It's really being hyped over here. I admire Sigorney Weaver so much -- starring in a sci fi movie at her age. I want some of her genes in my next life.

The latest Star Trek should be out on DVD. Great young cast as original crew we know and love is granted a new and alternate future by an evil Romulan who comes crashing through a time-warping black hole to erase all those cheesy 70's tv episodes and give the producers a fresh start. Whew! And Leonard Nimoy, too. Much fun.

But then, I remember at college the computer science students walked around campus with shoe boxes under their arms holding their punch cards ... their programs! And heaven forbid if they dropped the box, because the cards weren't numbered.
