Oh, by the way, the original discussion WAS about avatars and smilies.
Nurn: "...all the smilies and avatars have pretty much done it for me...the whole site has got too big".
That is what Angie was asking about.

This morning while the site was up and running, I found a note from Angie in my inbox telling me there was a discussion going on here.

I spent several minutes composing a carefully crafted three point response to what had already been posted, pointing out how much easier it was to read the More...

Jeb, it needs to be five-point, not three...

and with each point posted individually.

I'm doin' good to come up with a 3 point hitch and PTO. Besides, it all happened before breakfast and I can't remember what that was.

Jeb: breakfast is the meal that you eat the soonest after getting up in the morning.

Jeb, a lot of people here will copy what they have written before they post. Especially if it is long and something they really need to say. That way if the gremlins steal it when you submit it, you can paste it and try again.
08/Jan/08 6:04 PM

And in some cases, instead of copying it, they should try reading it.

I am aware of all that, but the excitement of having literarily outdone myself forced my enthusiasm to exceed my capabilities.

Jeb, next time, take a deep breath, copy your work, then post it.

Good morning,, after reading the comment abt 3 point, and 5 point, I thought, of posting this. Sorry but this may not be relevant to the topic discussed here. But, I may feel a lot better after getting it outa my mind, by making this post.

Appy, one of the rules of cricket should be that it only be discussed among those who know what the heck they are talking about unless the discussion also includes Buddy Holly.

There it goes..sigh relief. The match was a SHAME.I never claim that our boys do a great job always in the field, but this particular match was a real spoilsport, a literal murder of the game.Anyway, the team still awaits for signal from the BCCI, basing on which they will either continue or abandon More...

Hello all, long time no post... Oh, dear, I seem to have started something... Of course I am not offended by smilies and avatars! Thanks to Ian and Greg, and anyone else who "defended" me.

PS I don't mind avatars so much. They can be useful; but I have tried so many times to sign up here but could never manage it. Maybe someone else is using my name?

Smilies, however....!

OK, I'm back again (sorry, all!).

What I don't like about the smilies is that, to me, they make everything much more difficult to read, simply by cluttering things up. I liked it better when they were just the usual smilies, but now there are banners, cakes, and the kitchen sink, taking up More...

Howdy Jeb,

Though I've always liked the "community spirit" of this site, and understand that it means a lot to people here, I do have to say that I, like you(cynic that I am), did used to like the caustic remarks that used to get people going with a good old argument.

It's what life is about - folks agreeing and disagreeing; no? yes? (someone diagree....!!)

Well, to heck with you Nurn. Let's step outside and fight this out man to man (sorry, woman). I do love the friendly arguements we used to have on the site, but many of them got UNfriendly, and became personal attacks against people (even I got sucked into that scenario as well). I prefer arguing More...

Well, to heck with you.....sounds like a spat between Radar O'riely and Hawkeye... and your Iowa naiveté. That's not how to get it started again children. The community spirit is still here. It has just changed its pants. It is more like Saturday morning hanging-out-the- laundry-gossip-across-the-fence with the neighbor lady.

One thing that I run in to quite often is a well aimed jape, snide remark, tongue in cheek curve ball or etc. being completly missed or misunderstood. Perhaps the aim needs be lowered. Who was it at the great big battle that said "Aim low boys, they're riding shetlands".

Hi Greg,

OK, to heck with you, too! Rasasafrassincrabbilrassin.... you do know I don't want nastiness and spite, of couse... well, as long as I'm not involved in it .... but it can be interesting sometimes....? No just kidding! Love and Peace all! Really!
