Stella, sorry I missed you, I was reading beer bread recipes and variations. I might try a loaf today, they sure do sound good.

I hope that Meaghan's mouth inproves, having classes and pain , and being hung over from pain pills is not fun.

Good afternoon all.
To many people with medical/dental problems at the moment to remember so I hope you all heal quickly.
Weather here has been very changeable. Both yesterday and today started off really sunny then changed to windy and chilly. Yesterday we also had rain and hailstones. Nearly 2 weeks until the official start of spring so hope the weather does improve soon

Everybody. FINALLY got a good night's sleep. (I took something) I feel SO much better.

There WAS a Tornado in Magnolia yesterday. I didn't see it, fortunately. I haven't heard about any damage yet.

How many finches do you have now? I have lost track of how many you have bought and I know you lost some during your power outage and big freeze.

Heidi, I liked Gil's comment about the finches looking as if they had been painted. From the photos, they really do, I imagine it is even more so in person.

Hi all,thanks for the concern about me while the cyclone is hanging around.During the night we had some gusty winds but not too bad.Had a little rain and now it looks like we are off the cyclone watch.The islands between Gladstone and Double island Point are still on watch.
Glad you are ok after the tornado Heidi and that you had a good nights sleep.

Suzy, I have had beer bread before, my niece made it for Thanksgiving. The beer is in place of yeast, and the alcohol cooks out. It is a quick bread, no kneading, no rising and resting the dough. It is a heavier flavorful bread, Al and I like it. I found one recipe using whole wheat flour, that is the one I want to try.

Heidi I was thinking of you yesterday. A bald eagle has built a nest not far from me. It is the first, or one of the first, times an eagle has been spotted in South Florida. We took the kids yesterday and had a great view of momma eagle and 2 babies in the nest. More...

Beer Bread is in the oven. I made this one by the Italian Bread variation, with good Italian spices mixed in, and Parmesan cheese, it is already smelling yummy.

If it tastes as good as it smells, I will share the recipe.

MizTricia, I could not get close enough to get a good photo. We had to use binoculars to see the eagles. It was a really cool experience. My camera does not have a strong enough zoom on it to get a picture. I tried.

There are 13 pictures with the above link. The first 7 are the same eagles that I took the kids to see. It was worth the drive which was about 25 minutes.
