Oh, ok, this is the get-together at Gail's? Saturday would probably be best for us, otherwise Rob can't make it, but whatever you decide - I guess I could manage without him!

You guys are the bomb.

Thank you all so much for your prayers and good wishes. I have had word that she is drowsy but came through the op well, and the surgeon is very happy with how it all went.
She will be home on Sunday, all being well.

That is good news Gail.

Speaking of 'Gails' how was luncheon?

Sorry Heidi, but I had to laugh at the dog eating your racoon hat.She must have thought he was still in there somewhere.

'Gail' was luvverly, thanks. It has been ages since hubby and I have been out to lunch. There have just been too many negatives going on lately.
Hubby and I both had a salad for lunch, he, the Warm Chicken Salad with Avocado and a Honey Mustard Dressing, and I had a Caesar with Seasoned More...

We are having my brother and SIL for tea tonight.I am very lazy though and am buying take-away chinese because of the different meat/chicken/spice preferences. I did make the fried rice myself though.I really hate cooking, probably because if someone is coming I get anxious, start early and end up burning it.Most of our meals are meat or fish and 3 veg, plain old food but I like it too.

How are you intending on cooking them Nola?

Bean - whilst I agree that it is less than entertaining to skim through dozens of posts from someone racing for TOPP's, I feel it is a bit unfair to single Heidi out. I'm sure a few of us could put up our hands and admit guilt on the same charge. I know I did it on SA5 (I think) until I realised More...

Oh great to have a fast connection again.
Heidi, had to laugh about Angel getting your hat too!
Cyn my sentiments too, we could all put our hands up at one time or another hehe! Would take more than your comment to ruffles theses old chocks feathers, now I will send myself to the NC.

Big weekend ahead of us - celebrating our anniversary early. 19 years ... Guess that means I can't really pass fof 29 anymore.

MizT, I have a question for you when you awake.
Heard this on the radio this afternoon and wondered how strong is the belief that Thou Shalt Not Take the Lord’s Name in Vain in relation to music.

Did you know.....

Fear of Friday the 13th — one of the most popular myths in science — is called paraskavedekatriaphobia as well as friggatriskaidekaphobia. Triskaidekaphobia is fear of the number 13.

Hi all, I'm still in the land of the living but don't feel like it. I actually went to bed before 10pm last night which for me is unheard of.

The trip to the dentist for my son wasn't too painful for him. It was for me or should I say my bank account. It cost me £152. I'll be pleased when his treatment is finished next month.

Brenda - my cake was like that too. The piece I ate straight away was fine but I covered the rest and got another piece later and it was dry too, even though I warmed it up. I think it was because I still cooked it for 3 minutes and my microwave is 1100W - the recipe says 3 minutes for 1000W. You wouldn't think it would make such a difference.

I did see Kira yesterday very quickly when I delivered some Avon to Kim. So tiny still but what a cutie. I must get some more pics of her.

Hey Suzy, in regard to Citizenship, Difference and Marginality in Schools: Spatial and Embodied Aspects of Gender Construction - didn't I give you the best piece of advice ever for successful study in Education?? hehe Learn the jargon of the day and use it all yourself too, lecturers fall for it every time! Suzy and Susan, I glaze over when I see all that jargon. Plain English is all I understand and even then I sometimes need things explaining to me

Heidi, the book was entertaining, and somewhat of an action/adventure book, if it were a movie, it would be a guys movie. It had some humor, but I would not say it was hilarious. Guess I did not do a good job on that book report.

Son#1 is home from uni for the weekend and brought 3 American friends with him. One of the girls was telling me that tomorrow is Pie (pi) Day in the US the date being 3/14 as in pi = 3.14. Supposedly they eat a lot of pies on that day. I've never heard of that before. all new to me...

Broni, I am not familiar with either the Birmingham Weekly. I think it may be a " throw away" paper found in resturants and other spots, I need to check that out. I also am not familiar with Eagle Radio 106.9

Susan, just 'cause I have to spout the jargon, doesn't mean I have to like it! Sometimes I think some of the authors have a self esteem problem. Which is weird because their ideas aren't bad, it's just the way they choose to write them down...

I agree totally Suzy. They like to look intellectually superior, whereas to me, the skill lies in being able to simplify tough stuff so that everyone can understand it. Anyway, isn't that what a teacher has to be able to do? Once you finish your studies, you can file all those readings where they belong.
14/Mar/09 1:41 AM
 |  |

Susan, yes, agree, teachers should be able to put ideas and material into language everyone can understand. I also agree, that type of writing seems to show a lack of esteem, whether self esteme or trying to make the entire educational system more "educated".
