You are quite right about SoA being a South Aus song. It was written by an English born school teacher, Caroline J. Carleton, who lived in Kapunda in the Barossa Valley. It was the result of a competition sponsored by the Gawler Institute in 1859 to celebrate its second anniversary.

Baseball was not good today June. Only 6 of the team showed (got subs from the other team) and no one on either team had their 'best' day. Ebob bowled 2 innings, the first went well, the second she was pulled out...

Thanks for that info Gail. Interesting for me also as many of my ancesters from Cornwall settled in Kapunda. I must admit I did not know the song when it was suggested as a possible anthem in 1974.

The baseball season is coming to an end Suzy. I think Ken's team only has a few games left. Sorry it did not go well today.

I might go to bed soon. A very busy week coming up. A cruise on Brisbane Waters (about an hour north of Sydney) with Probus tomorrow. I have to play Pennant Bowls on Tuesday (serious stuff!). I will get Laura on Tuesday after day care and have her till Wednesday night.
I am sure I will find time in the early hours to do the puzzles though.

Have a great day June, sounds like fun. Good luck on Tuesday too. You sure do sound like you have a busy week coming up.

Suzy, what does the wall colour look like now?

I'm having trouble with very slow posting right now so I might make this my last post. June, only a few games left for Ebob too, but then she may be playing with the seniors. I have to check we haven't missed the date....

Before I leave I want to share a 'thought for the day' I just More...

Just to prove me wrong that post was quicker.

Still ORANGE Gail. But with the off white trim it seems to be working out. We'll know for sure when the furniture goes back in. But we've already decided, if it looks awful, too bad! We're not doing that again any time soon!

How is your decorating going Gail?
22/Feb/09 10:00 PM
 |  |

Hey everybody. I've been caught up for the past week still trying to get the house back together. Good to be back

Brenda, we have had to undercoat her walls because we let the kids draw on the walls when we moved in because they were all renter's beige (good term!) and we promised we would paint them. Well, this daughter took the invitation and ran with it! It will need to be done again but the ceiling looks good.
My shoulders are killing me though!

Gday Susan, welcome back. Hope the clean-up is going well.
22/Feb/09 10:04 PM
 |  |

Hi Susan, does this mean that you have managed to get everything cleaned, disinfected and stuff moved back so that you can live in all your home?
22/Feb/09 10:05 PM
 |  |

Night folks. Very late night last night and a full-on day today. Back at it tomorrow so need my beauty sleep!
22/Feb/09 10:05 PM
 |  |

How did your daughter's room go? Did you get it finished? We still have a tonned of trim to go.
22/Feb/09 10:06 PM
 |  |

Gail I wont let my daughters see that you are decorating your daughters bedroom as they will be on at me to do theirs. At present funds don't allow for decorating, I'll have to start saving again.

WB Susan! Hi Brenda.

Gail, my legs are ACHING from going up and down the ladder what feels like a million times...

Brenda, I wouldn't be game to start any more projects if I were you - the last one seemed to grow and grow and grow...

Good Day/Evening SA7
Well seem today was a painting day
Finally finished one side and got the boat turned around, but not before the boader who is my main helper, mixed up too much of the 2 pack paint and I ended up undercoating the other side of the boat with the rest (looked like a monkey swinging on one arm and painting with the other)

OK Queenslandites and any others that may be here.
Keith and Lynne are arriving on Sat 3rd May so figure we will have a gathering on Sunday, they are heading off Monday to Sydney to fly back. I need help in finding statues around our town. HELP!!!
22/Feb/09 10:23 PM
 |  |

Yep, that would be right talking to myself again.
22/Feb/09 10:24 PM
 |  |

Broni be careful what you are doing, swinging from the side of a boat, especially one which is out of water.
22/Feb/09 10:25 PM
 |  |

Susan, are you going to have to paint downstairs? What did you have to do after the hose down?
22/Feb/09 10:25 PM
 |  |

Totally buggered, going to bed. Catch you all on the flip side.
22/Feb/09 10:26 PM
 |  |

You are right there Suzy, the last one still isn't finished. We still have to sort out the roof, that will be when the weather gets a bit warmer. After that we may HAVE to do some decorating.
22/Feb/09 10:27 PM
 |  |

Hi Broni, I love that image! I hope you took photos...

So why do no comments come up when I refresh, and 4 come up when I post????
22/Feb/09 10:29 PM
 |  |

What do you need statues for Broni?
22/Feb/09 10:29 PM
 |  |

Suzy, I'm trying to imagine how Broni could take photos whilst swinging from the side of a boat and painting?
22/Feb/09 10:31 PM

Brenda, we need to replace the ceiling in the girls' bathroom. Next project? Or do we paint the girls rooms in the new colours they have chosen? Or do we paint our room with the left over orange? Or do we decide everything is fine the way it is and file it all in the too hard basket???
22/Feb/09 10:35 PM
 |  |

Good point Brenda - I hope someone watching took photos! Although a third arm sounds like it would have come in handy...

Keith has his photo taken with statues where ever he goes. We've got one in our town, but he's not coming here.
22/Feb/09 10:39 PM

If you're wondering why I am here so late when I'm normally long gone by now, it's because this is the only room with both a TV and furniture at the moment. Though it has a little (lot) too much furniture...
22/Feb/09 10:47 PM

Talking to myself again.... guess it's past my bedtime anyway.

Night all!

The talk of all your patriotic Australian songs was most interesting. Choosing a national anthem must be difficult, glad ours was chozen and i did not have a voice in it, might have been dispaointed in it if I had a choice.

We are doing a clear out of the attic and are starting to get rid of things. We use freecycle, it is surprising what I don't want other people do. Just passed on two and a half rolls of wallpaper!
