Suzy - what's this about a teachers' strike? Don't they know it's the parents who suffer? hehehe

Bean bid on 3 trees by mistake Liz - sounds like something I would do!
19/Nov/08 9:14 AM
 |  |

Ok a few of us here now
and I have to go and get organised for work
19/Nov/08 9:14 AM
 |  |

Lizzy - that's why you are Dandy's angel...I believe there was definitely divine intervention there!
Now wasn't I saying something about getting ffuts done about an hour ago?
19/Nov/08 9:15 AM
 |  |

LOL Vici! We had a note from d2s school - minimal supervision, let us know if your child is coming. I'm about to sign that d2 will arrive at school at 11 (only a 2 hour stop work meeting) when she lets slip that her teacher had said her class had no excuse not to come as he was going to be there! Off to school she went...
19/Nov/08 9:16 AM
 |  |

what a naughty D2
but thinking back I was up to no good all the time at that age
mu teacher used to say I was her worst nightmare
well thank goodness I was best at something

19/Nov/08 10:49 AM

I think I'm gonna listen to a little bit of The Shadow. Bwahahahahahahaha!

Who was it who told me to use white tape to keep the horses out? I'm in the middle of trying it and it seems to be working!! I'm about to dismantle a bit of my adhoc barrier to see what happens... Come to think of it, don't fess up yet - if it fails I might be asking you to come to help clear up the messages in my kitchen!
19/Nov/08 11:47 AM
 |  |

'Twasn't me, tho' I think it is a good idea with most horses. A few are too cunning to be fooled. Of my 6, one would not be tricked by that, and would wiggle under.
19/Nov/08 12:43 PM
 |  |

SUZY, hope the white tape works for keeping your lawn mowers contained. you do not want to be off chasing them.
19/Nov/08 12:44 PM
 |  |

Suzy, I was the one who told you about the white tape. Would love to come and help clean up but not sure if I can get away right now.
Just had a little girl help me stir the Christmas cake (And put in the eggs so hope there is no shell!) and it is in the oven cooking. The two for the stall yesterday did not even make the table before they were sold. This one is for me.
19/Nov/08 1:04 PM
 |  |

MizT, the problem isn't that they are taking off, the problem is that they are coming into the house!

The big brown lawn mower keeps checking it out. I moved the other stuff so it would look more accessible to see what he would do. So far he is still checking it out and then backing off...

Hellooooo, SA7! Well, after 2 days in a row with snow flurries, we had enough snow to turn the grass white (temporarily, thank goodness) yesterday. I am NOT ready! Temperatures in the 20* F today (below 0*C, but I don't know how far below). The car's steering wheel was almost too cold to hold onto.
19/Nov/08 1:05 PM
 |  |

June, I thank you many times over! My back patio is looking like a patio again (well, as much as it is capable of anyway). I'm keeping the back door closed - just in case - so you are safe from the trip down to help clean up.

Hello, Rena & Amber! I hope you are having a GREAT day today. Be sure you get a good night sleep tonight. If you have planned a full schedule of sight-seeing, you'll need your strength. We are all so excited for you! Have a wongerful time!
19/Nov/08 1:09 PM
 |  |

I have already put my bins out this week so there will be no need for me to rush across the road in slippers this week! Once is enough for this wild haired woman!!
19/Nov/08 1:09 PM
 |  |

P.S. Rena, you should be getting TONS of hugs from everyone. We have all asked those who will be seeing you to give you hugs from the rest of us.
19/Nov/08 1:09 PM
 |  |

Julie, 20F is almost -7C.... Brrrrrr
19/Nov/08 1:10 PM
 |  |

Suzy, thanks for the reminder! Our garbage bins need to be put out tonight as well!

Rolanda, I love your "Hotel Rolanda." I hope you have a wongerful time hosting Rena and Amber. You know we are all jealous!
19/Nov/08 1:11 PM
 |  |

Thanks, Suzy, for doing the math. I just hadn't taken the time to figure it out yet. It sounds even colder your way.
19/Nov/08 1:13 PM
 |  |

Sorry to abandon ship, but I need to get some ffuts done. I hope to be back later! Have a terrific day, everyone!
19/Nov/08 1:14 PM

Bye for now Julie

It's about 21C here right now, 70F...

Meant to say something about your christmas cakes June... they sound delicious! I usually end up buying a Lions Club cake. Still not very adventurous with the flinging food thing...
19/Nov/08 1:20 PM
 |  |

I'm further south than Julie, so it's only 26F here.
19/Nov/08 1:20 PM
 |  |

As a Lion's Club member too, I have to ask. What's a Lion's Club cake?
19/Nov/08 1:22 PM
 |  |

A fruit cake sold by the Lion's Club in Aus every christmas as a fund raiser Heidi.
19/Nov/08 1:24 PM
 |  |

Ah... Thought there might be a secret recipe. Some would say that I was the fruitcake. Or maybe just a fig newton (an involved Marx Bro's joke )
19/Nov/08 1:33 PM
 |  |

I'm off to feed dogs now. BRB!
19/Nov/08 1:35 PM

June, your comment about Christmas cakes reminded me that it's time to help Mum start making hers. She does a boiled fruit cake, and I've many happy memories of fighting my sisters over who got to lick the saucepan - even dividing it into sections. Back then it was one cake, 3 lickers. This year More...

Hehe! Looks like I missed you all again. Cleaning out one of the spare bedrooms for friend coming down from Noosa for the weekend....yuck!
19/Nov/08 1:52 PM
 |  |

Hi Susan, you snuck in while I wasn't looking.
Do you need any help licking the saucepans?
19/Nov/08 1:53 PM
 |  |

Lion's Club fruit cake: a 3"x3"x9" block of dark candied fruit, a few dark nuts and dark batter which weighs approximately the same as a common brick but doesn't taste as good. It is generally believed that it is the origin of the custom of re-gifting.

Yeah, I do, Broni. They're too good to go to waste - but 7 on my own??? I'd be sick afterwards.
